Isoflurane (C ∨ H ₂ ClF ∨ O), CAS No. 26675-46-7, is an organic compound, which belongs to inhalation general anesthesia. It is clinically applicable to surgical anesthesia for patients with epilepsy, diabetes, bronchial asthma, etc. [1] [3]. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with a boiling point of 48.5 ℃ and a refractive index of 1.301. It is insoluble in water and needs to be stored in a cool, light shielded and sealed place [1-2].

Isoflurane exerts anesthetic effects by inhibiting the central nervous system, and has the characteristics of low blood/gas partition coefficient, rapid induction and recovery. It has mild respiratory irritation and can dilate the bronchi. Clinically, it is often used in combination with nitrous oxide. When inhaled by the closed method, the induced concentration is 1.5% -3%, and the maintained concentration is 1% -1.5%. About 99.83% is excreted in its original form through the lungs [1] [4]. The drug has weak inhibition on the circulatory system and a high cardiac anesthesia index. Its clinical application involves anesthesia management for open heart surgery, and excessive use may lead to respiratory and circulatory depression [4].
